In the sprawling, chaotic world of underground music, Cece Natalie has quietly carved her own lane. Hailing from Connecticut, Cece — born Mia Ferrentino on April 4, 2005 — has become a compelling voice in indie pop, blending nostalgia, experimentation, and vulnerability in a way that feels instantly personal.

From SoundCloud Beginnings

Cece’s journey started in 2022 with a track called i wanna be the star on SoundCloud. Though it’s now gone, the song marked the birth of her artistic identity. Over time, she has developed a sound that merges hyperpop energy with early 2010s EDM influences, crafting something at once fresh and familiar.

Her debut album, Miss Behaves (July 2024), announced her arrival in a big way. Playful yet gritty, tracks like Like a Taxi (Oh Well) and Crumbs showcased her knack for catchy hooks layered over experimental production. It was clear she wasn’t just making songs — she was building a world.

A Memorable Connection: Snow Strippers

A pivotal moment in Cece’s career came through her collaboration with electronic duo Snow Strippers. Known for their genre-blurring energy and DIY ethos, Snow Strippers provided the perfect creative counterpart. Their joint performance at the Knockdown Center in Queens, organized by the Surf Gang collective, became an iconic night for those in attendance. Cece took the stage wearing wings, a playful nod to the magical, almost surreal energy of the show.

Reflecting on the night, she said, “It was definitely one of my top few favorite shows I’ve ever done. Knockdown is one of my favorite venues — there’s a magic to it. I even wore my wings to solidify the magic of that night.” That performance captured her ability to bridge genres, connect with audiences, and elevate live music into a fully immersive experience.

DIY Ethos and Independent Spirit

Cece’s authenticity extends to her creative process. She writes, produces, and records independently, often making do with whatever space and equipment she has. Whether it’s recording vocals in her mother’s car or producing beats in her bedroom, her dedication to unfiltered expression is evident in every track.

Cultivating Community

Beyond the music, Cece has built a community that resonates deeply with her work. Her fans, active across Instagram and SoundCloud, feel a direct connection to her journey — part of a small but fiercely loyal collective who understand her art isn’t just music, it’s a conversation.

Looking Forward

Cece Natalie’s trajectory is a reminder of the power of authenticity in the digital age. Her story — rooted in DIY independence, genre experimentation, and genuine connection — offers inspiration to any artist trying to navigate the crowded, ever-shifting music landscape. As she continues to evolve, her influence quietly but profoundly reshapes what it means to be an underground artist today.
