Who is Sewerperson?

Miles Benjamin Lenehan (born June 18, 1998), known professionally as Sewerperson or 9TAILS, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Toronto, Ontario. Over the past decade, the 27-year-old has cultivated a devoted cult following, releasing more than 470 songs under the Sewerperson name alone. Miles first gained recognition in 2017 as 9TAILS, when Sad Chill reposted his track “wtf im crying” to their YouTube channel — where it has since surpassed nine million views.

Where did Miles’ musical journey begin?

“I started making music as 9TAILS about a year ago, but I actually began playing when I was six — I played guitar. Around twelve, I started singing, though I didn’t write my own songs yet. It wasn’t until I was seventeen or eighteen that I really began writing my own stuff. Two months later, a new voice appeared online — hauntingly familiar, yet distinctly evolved. The artist went by Sewerperson. With this transformation, Miles shed the melancholic tone of his 9TAILS work and embraced a more experimental, SoundCloud-driven sound, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his musical identity.

Under the name Sewerperson, Miles has released an impressive catalog — 470 songs, 33 albums, and more EPs than one could easily count. When he’s not in the studio creating or dropping new music for his devoted fanbase, he’s on the road performing alongside artists like Guardin and Kennedyxoxo. Miles first hit the stage in 2022, joining the Voluntary Confinement Tour, a 23-date run that marked his debut as a touring artist.
